The efsli Deaf Interpreters Spring School will be run from 31th March to 2nd April 2017 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Theme:
“Advantages and challenges in Deaf interpreting teams”
Learning outcomes:
– How does the concept of sameness challenge your interpreting work?
– What are the differences? – Perspectives in working in team with Deaf interpreters
(DIs) and also with hearing interpreters (HIs).
– Which advantages is there in DI/DI teams and DI/HI teams
– How to apply the theoretical framework to our practice?
– How do we talk about our work outside the field?

Trainers: Ellen Nauta and Vivien Mirjam Batory
Vivien Batory is from Denmark, and has Danish sign language as her native language; through her childhood she met many international deaf people and learned the beauty of international sign early. As a WFDYS member and president for total 8 years she also have an extensive experience with IS.
She has studied Film and Media science (BA) Cross-cultural studies (MA level) and graduated with a MA degree from EUMASLI (European Master of Sign Language Interpreting)
She was the first deaf interpreter interpreting live news on television in Denmark, and has more than 10 years experience in interpreting and translation in various settings.
Ellen Nauta (The Netherlands), always fond of languages, so she made her job out of it: she was a part of a research team in linguistics of sign languages for a several years and now in the Netherlands she is the first deaf teacher teaching interpreting skills to hearing students. When interpreting, she is mostly working between two signed languages and interpreting for the deafblind. She took Communication Studies (BA) and Spanish (BA) at Gallaudet University, after that she went ahead for Sign language Linguistics (BA) at the University of Amsterdam and finally got her MSc degree in Sign Language Interpreting from the EUMASLI program at Heriot-Watt University

Cancellation policy:
Please be advised that if you wish to cancel your registration then the following applies.
If your cancellation is received:
• before 28th February 2017: 50% refund minus bank transfer fee
• after 28th February 2017: no refund
Changes in registration is 50 Euro. This charge will be applied if you decide not to cancel your registration but send someone else instead of you. Cancellations must be sent by email to admin@efsli.org and need to be confirmed by efsli.
