2019 efsliDI Spring School

The 2018 efsli Deaf Interpreters Spring School will be held from 3th May to 5th May 2019 in Oslo, Norway in cooperation with NAI, Norwegian Association of Interpreters

The registration and payment deadline is 1st May 2019

The 2019 efsliDI Spring school will be focused on “Elevating the professionalisation and the skill of co-working between Deaf and Hearing interpreters

Abstract:

As the professionalisation of Deaf interpreters continue to advance in Europe, this workshop will foster exploration and discussion on what it means to be a professional interpreter and explore the working relationship between Deaf and Hearing interpreters with the goal of becoming co-interpreters in a wide array of settings.

Deaf-Hearing interpreting team workshop provides the rationale, theories, and practices. Learners will engage in dialogue on justification for teaming and the critical roles and contributions of  team members in achieving full communication access. Learners also explore and practice effective teaming strategies. This will include in-depth exploration of consecutive and simultaneous practices and theories.

Co-working involves advance preparation and collaboration to manage and adapt to the needs of interpreted interactions, to gain closure post-assignment, and to apply new understandings to future interactions. Learners gain a greater understanding of the importance of Deaf interpreters’ successful teamwork with interpreter colleagues, both Deaf and hearing.
